Fresh Vibes: Model Development Photoshoot

Get Signed. Book Jobs. Build a Portfolio Clients and Agencies Actually Notice.

The Process

Before shoot day, we’ll connect over a Zoom consultation to align on goals, market, and visual direction. I’ll create a custom mood board so we walk into the shoot with a clear plan—and still leave room for creativity.

We’ll review your current portfolio together, identify what’s working, and pinpoint any gaps we can strategically fill during your session—so every image we create serves a purpose.

BEFORE THE SHOOT

Sessions take place in my Evanston studio or on location anywhere from the Chicago Loop up to Milwaukee, depending on the looks and vibe we’re creating.

During the session, I’ll guide you through posing, expression, and pacing, making sure we get strong, usable images for both agencies and commercial clients.

THE PHOTOSHOOT

Once your session wraps, everything moves into a smooth, organized post-production process.

Within 2–3 business days, you’ll receive a private online proofing gallery featuring the best images from your shoot. From there, you’ll select your favorites for final retouching. Your gallery is easy to share with your agent if you’d like a second set of eyes.

Your selected images are then added to the retouching queue. Final edits are delivered within 5–10 business days and include 6 fully retouched images, along with 8 agency-ready digitals sized correctly for submissions. Extra Images Available as an add-on.

Your finished photos will be delivered via Google Drive for easy access and downloads. WeTransfer is also available upon request.

The goal is simple: fast turnaround, clean edits, and images that are ready to submit, share, and get you booked.

What is a Model Test Shoot?

A model test shoot also known as a Model Development shoot around here, is an elevated collaborative photoshoot designed to help models build or update their portfolios with high-quality images. It’s an opportunity for models to showcase their versatility, experiment with new looks, and create dynamic visuals for agencies or personal branding.

Who is a Test Shoot For?

Test shoots are perfect for:

  • New models looking to start their portfolios.

  • Experienced models who want to refresh their images with updated looks.

  • Models seeking specific styles or concepts for agency submissions.

  • Individuals building their personal brand in the fashion, beauty, or lifestyle space.

Where is the Model Test shot at?

My studio is located in Evanston, IL, unless you furnish the pre-approved alternative studio location. I also shoot on-location throughout the Chicago and Milwaukee areas.

What Should I Bring to the Test Shoot?

We will go over everything you need to bring during our Zoom consultation and through prep emails.

What Can I Expect During the Shoot?

  • A relaxed and professional environment where you’ll feel comfortable expressing yourself.

  • Guidance on poses and expressions to highlight your best angles.

  • Collaborative feedback to ensure we capture images that meet your goals.

  • A mix of lighting and backdrop setups to add variety to your shots.

How Should I Prepare for the Shoot?

  • Skincare: Keep your skin clean and hydrated.

  • Hair: Arrive with clean, styled hair unless a hairstylist is provided.

  • Nails: Simple and neat – avoid bold colors unless discussed in advance.

  • Rest: Get a good night's sleep and drink plenty of water to look and feel your best.

How Long is a Test Shoot?

Most test shoots last 1-3 hours, depending on the number of looks and if a creative team is involved. This includes setup, shooting time, and breaks.

Can I Bring Someone with Me?

Absolutely! If it makes you more comfortable, you’re welcome to bring a friend, parent, or companion to the shoot. Please limit it to one person to maintain focus on the session. If at any point they become a distraction, they will be asked to leave.

Do You Work with Male and Female Models?

Yes! I work with models of all genders, ages, and experience levels to create diverse and compelling portfolios.

What Happens After the Shoot?

Once the shoot is complete:

  • 2 or 3 business days after the shoot you will receive a private proofing gallery with the images so you can select your favorites.

  • Once you make your selections they will be added to the processing queue.

  • 5 - 10 business days afterwards you will receive the finished photos through Google Drive. WeTransfer can also be used instead by request.

What’s the Difference Between Agency Digitals and a Test Shoot?

Agency Digitals:

  • Digitals (also called "Polaroids") are simple, natural photos that agencies use to see your raw, unedited look.

  • These are typically shot with minimal to no makeup, clean styling, and basic poses to highlight your natural features, height, and proportions.

  • They often include full-body, profile, and close-up shots against a plain background.

  • Purpose: To give agencies a clear view of your look without any distractions.
